What Should Your Dog Wear for Assessments and Visiting?

Published: 28th November 2016

David Ryan, the Charity’s Animal Behaviour Expert, with input from our team of volunteer assessors, has clarified our approach to chains, half check collars etc this week.

img_3645For both assessments and visiting Wag Friendship Dogs should be held on a fixed, not an extending, lead and wear a comfortable flat neck collar or a properly fitted body harness; not a chain, nor a half check collar or head collar.   In exceptional circumstances, usually because of a handler’s medical condition, it is possible to visit for Wag & Company using a head collar but the assessment must be passed without.
