In Loving Memory (2017/18)

Published: 25th April 2018

This year we we lost a number of members of the Wag family.  Beloved Visiting Wag Team Gordon and Barney as well as beautiful Friendship Dogs Meg, Rupert, Madge and Buster throughout the year.  They all made a unique difference to the lives of the elderly people they visited.

With love we remember..

Visiting Wag Team Gordon & Barney who we lost so tragically last July.  Always remembered by the team at Wag and by The Essence Service Sunderland.  Gordon’s wife Ellen, also a Wag Volunteer, chose to provide the new embroidered bandanas to all Wag volunteers with donations from Gordon’s funeral.

Beautiful Friendship Dogs Never Forgotten:

Meg and John were our 100th visiting Wag Team; Meg made many people smile at Hawthorn Court Care Home in Hebburn;  John still visits with Rio, but special Meg is never forgotten.

Described as the small dog with a big personality, Rupert, is greatly missed by everyone who looked forward to his weekly visits to The Essence Service in Sunderland.

One of our very first Friendship Dogs, Madge visited Eden House Care Home in Bishop Auckland.   She always knew when it was Monday and time to visit and is missed by her many friends.

Buster and Dave made many friends at Victoria House Nursing Home in Stockton, Reuben Manor Care Home in Eaglescliffe and The Poplars Care Home in Thornaby.

Dave is still visiting all his friends but so sadly without his lovely boy.

Legacy Gift:

Remembering Teresa Brown, in whose special memory her family made a donation to the Charity.
