Ride for Wag: Coast 2 Coast Fundraising Challenge

Published: 21st November 2019

We’re excited to launch the Wag & Company Coast 2 Coast cycle, a new fundraising challenge for June 2020.

We're looking for supporters to take part in this exciting two-day cycling challenge and, through their fundraising, enable more very special friendships for our elderly neighbours at the same time. It's one of the most popular long-distance rides in the UK, stretching for 128 miles (206 km) and with an impressive 10,600 ft (3,230 meters) of climbing.

You will get to ride the picturesque route that starts at Workington on the west coast of Cumbria and crosses the northern edge of the Lake District. It then climbs into the dramatic landscapes of the northern Pennines before descending to the River Tyne and to the finish at the North Sea at Tynemouth.

The event will take place on Saturday 13 June 2020 & Sunday 14 June. Participants will be transported to Workington to start the cycle on Friday afternoon.

For this fundraising event, you'll need as much pedal power as possible. We're looking for people who can put in the training to prepare for this two-day event, you can be a total cycling novice, or a well-seasoned wheeler.  In the New Year,  there will be monthly training rides where you can meet your fellow riders and get cycling hints and tips from our experts.

If you interested in taking part but you'd like to find out more, head over to our Coast 2 Coast microsite, where you'll find all the details and a thorough FAQ.

To join our #WagTeam of cyclists, you'll need to pay a registration fee of £199 – to  include accommodation, transport and your special Wag branded cycling jersey – and to raise at least £500 in much needed funds for Wag & Company.
