Our visiting volunteers with their friendship dogs, “Wag Teams” are building meaningful relationships with older dog lovers across the North East of England.
Together we are making sure that everyone who misses the friendship of a dog can quickly benefit from a visit, bringing the joy of animal companionship to those who need it most.
We are visiting in care and medical establishments as well as being the only visiting dog charity to visit in the homes of people who need us. Initially this service is being developed in partnership with Adult Social Services and Age UK but our intention is also to offer it directly as we grow and develop.
There are nearly 900 care and nursing homes in the North East, quite apart from the hospices, hospitals and people living in their own homes that can benefit from our service.
We are building a movement of dog lovers across the North East so that in our own particular way with a silky ear, a trusting paw and only a couple of hours a week, our visiting Wag Teams can make a really big difference to someone else’s life.
